LIFEHOUSE

Te Whare Oranga Children’s home is on six acres of land on the outskirts of Palmerston North. This rural, peaceful environment is ideal for children who have come from challenging backgrounds.

Lifehouse - Te Whare Oranga recognises that access to the natural environment and meaningful activities promote positive wellbeing and mental health. Whether it’s checking for eggs, growing vegetables or simply talking to the cows we believe children can be calm and thrive in natural environments.

The home itself is designed to be clean and spacious, with a large open plan kitchen, dining and lounge as well as an additional large lounge room, there is space for children and caregivers to be together and form relationships, and quiet spots where children can relax. The home is designed to feel welcoming and warm, while still meeting the needs of the children who call Lifehouse - Te Whare Oranga home.

REDFROGS

Supporting, serving & safeguarding young people

Redfrogs is a support program for young people from the ages of 15 – 25. Redfrogs recognize that the culture of young people is dominated by alcohol and that excessive consumption of alcohol and other substances can lead to dangerous and life altering behaviours. Therefore Redfrogs make it their mission to provide a positive peer presence in alcohol-fuelled environments where young people gather, educate young people on safe partying behaviours, and promote and provide non-alcoholic and/or diversionary activities that engage young people in these environments.
