Anyone who has trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour qualifies for baptism. It is the first step of obedience for a believer, and an opportunity to go public with your faith, identifying yourself as a Christ-follower. If you have any questions about how to begin a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, join the Next Steps, Knowing  Jesus Sessions on a Sunday or email us your name and contact information; a pastor will personally contact you. If you are ready to take the next step and be baptised then you can register here for our next baptism service, the first Sunday of every month.

What Baptism Symbolizes

Baptism symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and what took place in your heart upon salvation.

  • Acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior

  • Sharing in His death and resurrection illustrated by going under the water (dead to our old way of life), then rising again (new life)

  • Being symbolically washed clean, our sins forgiven

I was sprinkled as a baby. Does that count?

In some denominations, infant christening represents a decision made by parents that they are dedicating their child to Christ. Much like the Baby Dedications we celebrate at Vision. However, being dedicated or sprinkled does not make you a Christian. Only a personal acceptance of Christ's death on the cross for your sins can do that.

Is my salvation dependent on being baptized?

Jesus instructed us to be baptized; it is not necessary for salvation, it demonstrates submission to God. We say that it is 'an outward expression of an inward decesion."

Why immersion?

We immerse at Vision because we believe Scripture shows how Jesus modeled that for us as the way to publicly acknowledge our faith in Him.
